Here is a great opportunity to put your creativity and interest in Scouting to work. We are having a contest to design the T-shirt to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting. The Old North State Council will select one Scout designed T-shirt for use throughout the year…and it could be yours!
The contest is open to all Old North State Council Scouts, and entries must be submitted by March 15, 2010. A local panel of judges will review all entries and select the top five. Final voting will be done on the web in April to select the winner, who will receive a $250 Scout Shop gift card.
Following are the details/rules for the contest. Please review carefully before starting your design, and good luck.
Who can participate?
Any Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout or Venturer registered with the Old North State Council can enter the contest.
What is the contest’s timeline?
The contest will launch in January 1, 2010 and designs can be submitted following the directions at the bottom of this page. The deadline to submit entries is March 15th.
A panel of judges will select five T-shirt designs from all entries based on originality and creativity, promotion of the 100th Anniversary theme, and overall appeal. Between April 1st and April 30th, Scouts will be able to vote electronically for their favorite T-shirt design via this website: www.100yearsofncscouting.org
What can Scouts win?
The Scout or Venturer who designs the winning T-shirt design will receive a $250 gift card to the Scout shop at the Old North State Council Service Center. The other four finalists will receive a $50 gift card. The odds of winning depend on the number of Scouts who enter.
What are the design criteria?
The T-shirt design should commemorate one hundred years of Boy Scouting in some fashion. Designs should be limited to 6 colors. Use of the National 100th Anniversary logo (displayed at top right of this page) is optional. The design must contain a fleur de lis or the wording “Boy Scouts of America”. Each submission should contain only the Scout’s own original artwork, except for BSA logos. Registered, trademarked, or copyrighted material should not be included in the Scout’s design. Multiple submissions can be made by an individual Scout. Be sure to include the Scout’s Name, Unit Type and Number (eg, Pack 1), a phone number, and a parent or guardian's name. All designs must be in keeping with Boy Scout principles.
When can the winning T-shirt be purchased?
In May 2010, the Old North State Council will begin production of the winning T-shirt design. The winning T-shirt will be available for purchase beginning in June at a variety of locations including the Council Scout Office and at Cherokee Scout Reservation and Woodfield Scout Preservation during summer resident camp.
